K24A1 Swapped: 2000 Honda Insight

The Honda Insight wasn’t known as a sporty vehicle, but it did have an available manual gearbox and if you ditch those heavy batteries and swap in a high horsepower K-series 4-banger, you get something that would rule the roads in 1995. Find this 2000 Honda Insight offered for $9000 in Victoria, MN via craigslist. Tip from Picklefork.

That’s pretty cool, and a total sleeper. If honda sleepers were my thing, I think $9k is reasonable.
My K20a swapped Insight was a scary-fast ride, like a 4 wheeled liter class motorcycle. Somehow though that kind of fun gets old …

I wanted your car so bad but couldn’t justify owning it to use a month or two a year when visiting the US. I sill dream of driving it.
As it it I probably won’t drive again in the US. I gave my much modded 2006 TDI to my son and future trips there will only be for a week or so.
But damn. I’d have liked to drive a scary fast car again but will settle for my non turbo diesel Nissan Patrol.
I thought I’d own it forever but quickly concluded that the only real thrill in owning a sleeper was constantly flogging it. Otherwise, what’s the point? The Abarth 500 that replaced it is a good and practical substitute.
A normally aspirated Patrol? That must be 240d levels of slow!
