In Fifth Gear Toward America: 1990 Yugo Koral 55

A few years after Malcolm Bricklin made a decent amount of money importing small Subarus into the USA, he launched his own auto company, which made the DeLoreanesque SV-1. The SV-1 was a cool car, but was an total financial failure, so Mr Bricklin went back to doing what he did best: importing cheap cars for the US economy car market. Except for the next project he didn’t find a reliable Japanese partner and instead partnered with the Serbian based Zastava Automobiles….and the rest is a punchline to every automotive joke from the 80s/90s. Today’s example is a recent immigrant from Eastern Europe, but it’ll have the same build quality and amazing style as something from the Yugo era. Find this 1990 Yugo Koral 55 offered for $7500 in Chardon, OH via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1990 Yugo Koal 55 recently imported from Slovenia. This is not a U.S. specked Yugo. Original Mexico Blue paint. there are a few small dings in the roof, pass fender, lower driver side 1/4 panel and the hatch. No rust underneath and never had any. Runs and drives excellent and with the 5 speed makes it drive interstates easily. Original glass is in excellent condition. Original interior with no damage. All lights and gauges work. This car has a kilometer speedo with 8700 Kilo’s, European headlamps and side marker lights and never had a catalytic converter or rear 3rd brake lamp. Factory aluminum wheels. Can be driven anywhere. Not interested in any trades. If you are reading this post it is “still for sale”. Clear Ohio title in my name.

See a better way to drive something imported from Slovenia?
