Ich Rocke Zee28: 1979 Porsche 928

The Porsche 928 used a V8 up front mated to a transaxle in a comprehensibly modern design that was decidedly non-911 and very much a luxury grand tourer. From the very beginning the 928 was designed to slaughter the 911. It had a bigger engine, better weight distribution, wider wheel/tires, better driving position, and technology out the kazoo…which may have been its downfall. The 928 was an overcomplex glockenspiel to the simple bongo drum of the 911. Anyway, if the 928 was the ultimate German Camaro, it is only natural that you might consider shoving a Chevy 350 V8 inside. Find this 1979 Porsche 928 with Chevy 350 offered for $9,500 in San Diego, CA via Las Vegas craigslist.

almost no car in history has suffered more indignities than the 928
“Almost” being the key word in that sentence…

The Ford Edsel was a $4 BILLION failure (in today’s dollars)
Ford… where quality (and also the biggest marketing failure in automotive history), are still Job One.
-Stan (who will be a Blue Oval guy until I die… and probably after that, even…)
Anyone ever see the Top Gear episode where Jeremy Clarkson bought a beater 928 and sold just the engine (as a coffee table) for more than he bought the car?
Now *that’s* thinking outside the box… er… table…
-Stan (who lusted after 928s until I talked to a few prior owners…yeesh…)
