Heritage High Rofl: 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS

The Chevrolet HHR (Heritage High Roof) was a retro-styled wagon crossover that followed the 2001 launch of Chrysler’s PT Cruiser by about the time to design and launch a car from scratch (i.e. 6 years). It is as if the GM car designers were sitting around applauding their latest Oldsmobile design when the PT Cruiser launched. Oh crap, we need one of those ASAP. Five years later in 2006 the HHR hit the streets like a cheap Shanghai Rolex, but by this time the novelty of driving a Dodge Neon wrapped in a “retro” body had faded and the Cruiser went out of production in 2010. Hawaiian shirt & white New Balance wearing Costco shoppers also didn’t want to drive a Chevrolet Cobalt wrapped in a “retro” body and the HHR went out of production in 2011. What this meant is that Chrysler sold a million Cruisers in 10 years and GM sold half a million HHRs in 6 years. GM, always the bridesmaid, never the dancer at the bachelorette party. At least the HHR SS version has some oomph under the hood, but could it have been later to the party? Find this 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS offered for $7,200 in Sonoma, CA via craigslist.
