Happy St Patrick’s Day: 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Typically on St Patrick’s Day we enjoy featuring Irish built cars, but the 1960 Shamrock is difficult to find (given the 10 built production figures and 8 known to still exist) and DeLorean Snowcats aren’t just jumping out of trees, so I go to the next best thing which is an Italian car that uses the Quadrifoglio (four leaf clover) emblem and designation in their sportier models…which this is not. Anyway, find this 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia offered for $19000 in Rocklin, CA via craigslist.

For sale is our 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The car looks and drives amazing as it only has 21,xxx miles on it. It has the 2.0L Engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission that gets really good gas mileage. The car is a true head turner and we always get compliments everywhere we go. Some of the features are Navigation, Larger 8.8″ Screen, Remote Start, 19″ Wheels with brand new tires, Backup Camera, Parking Sensors and Blind Spot monitoring and so on. The car does hold a Salvage title due to very minor damage to the passenger side fender. Pictures are available if you are interested. KBB Values the car at $30,000 but we are only asking $19,000 for a quick sale. The car is smogged, registered, and We have the title in hand.

These always intrigue me, but the closest dealer is 300 miles away. Italian cars and distant dealer doesn’t feel like a good choice.
Every time I see the fully-decked-out trim on these cars I involuntary let out a low whistle and say, “damn, that’s a great looking car.”
Not sure I’d pay $19k for a salvage title car with a 2.0L 4 cylinder motor and an auto trans but to each his and/or her own. For a similar price a person *could* buy a 6MT Mk7 GTI with the Autobahn package (not my car and no association with me):

I do love Alfas though and have always wanted to own one. Haven’t had the chance yet. This story about the clover is a cool bit of history. Car guys helpin’ out other car guys:

These are pretty nice and seem well built considering they’re Italian.
Salvage title from “very minor damage” to a fender on such a late model car… hmmm, seems unlikely and that there’s more to the story. It would have to be significant for it to be branded salvage when this car was worth somewhere between $30-$50K at the time.
Also the 35% discount off current KBB should be a red flag in this hot market. Just sayin’…
I own one of these. It’s a great sport sedan and has been completely trouble free over 45k.
This 1960 Shamrock is believed to be 1 of 8 built, 1 of 5 surviving
