Guilty Pleasure: 1973 AMC Javelin

This next car comes as tip from Erik202 who writes: A while back I sent in a 72 mustang mach 1 that you featured. Those are generally a guilty pleasure of mine. These Javelins definitely do it for me in a very similar way. This one looks like a good start so a trans am racing inspired build. I can’t agree more with tipper Erik202’s sentiment on this orange creamsicle dream machine. Find this 1973 AMC Javelin offered for $12,500 CAD ($9288 USD) in Abbotsford, BC, Canada via craigslist.

Mark Donohue has a funny story about how that spoiler came to be in his book “The unfair advantage†along with an even funnier story about how he had American Motors soak a bunch of parts for Javelins in acid, then built a run of cars out of the acid soaked parts, subsequently lose track of them, and presumably send them to the dealers.
Apparently building a batch of acid dipped cars on the production line was not considered to be cheating whereas building a car from dipped parts in the Penske shop was against the rules.
I always wondered what sort of warranty claims were made for those cars.
Great book by the way.
