Grey For Me To Poupon: 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

For a company that sold extraordinary cars for the extraordinarily wealthy, Rolls-Royce had a complicated model lineup in the late 1970s when they were still an independent company. The starter Rolls was the Silver Shadow, which was available in long wheelbase known as the Silver Wraith, but you could also spend more money to get the Phantom or opt for the “sporty” 2-door Corniche or Camargue. Even the basic Silver Shadow was an expensive piece of machine with complex hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension licensed from Citroen and a Rolls built big block 6.75 liter L410 V8. Expect to spend a lot of money or time (or both) to keep this thing on the road. Find this 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II offered for $9,499 in Sandy, UT via KSL.com classifieds. Tip from Rob.

Bucket seats and 8-tracks…the sporty model!
I saw a Corniche (the 2-door version) on the street this weekend after posting this. Was amazed that it was able to move once a week to avoid street sweeping tickets.
do citroen suspension parts (spheres, main pump etc.) drop in directly into these or are they british produced variants with their own threading choices , shapes & sizes?
I believe in those days Rolls used the British threads and Citroen used metric. I believe that some of the newer E & S type Mercedes use complex self-levelling hydropneumatics suspension (would be metric).
“..suspension licensed from Citroen” should make your blood run cold
