“Great” Expectations: 1972 Ford Mustang Coupe
The first generation Ford Mustang is generally understood to have been built from 1964 through 1973, but the later cars were significantly different in many ways. The same basic chassis, suspension, and powertrain might have been under them, but the later models are considerably cheaper in any condition. Find this 1972 Ford Mustang Coupe offered for $4,000 in Ft Myers, CO via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.
Let’s deconstruct this listing just a bit: This is a 1972 Ford Mustang great condition! I’m not sure of the word great means what I think it means, but this car is sitting on a U-Haul trailer in the pics. Paint is in great condition as well. Sure. If you ignore the dents, dings, and blistering rust spots.
The seats on the inside are perfect, no rips or anything. Okay, this seems to be accurate, but the headliner is held in place by chip clips.

I didn't know there were clay tile roofs in Colorado…or that Colorado was on the nature (geezer) coast.
Not pointing fingers at anyone about this however
I feel like we get excited about any car that is somewhat reasonably priced that resembles a classic. I have become pretty frustrated with the inflated prices on some "collector cars". I don't know if many cars have been sent overseas or are bing hoarded by rich collectors.
Sorry for the rant but his car is just a dog.
Well, first the Shelbys went through the roof, then the first-gen convertibles, then the first-gen 2+2s, then the second-gen fastbacks, then the first-gen coupes started rising and the third-gen fastbacks, then the second- and third-gen coupes, meanwhile the Mavericks and early Falcons are taking off, the fourth-gen coupes like this one have to get in on the act somewhere.
Clearly the seller's definition of 'great condition' is 'it has floorpans'. You don't know what it looks like until you get that vinyl top off, and potentially the carpets. Could be a nice car to build from if the fourth-gen Mustangs float your boat, but worth the money? Uh…
Yeah that vinyl top is hideous…..aircraft carrier….4K no thanks…
