Get A Bucket: 1990 Volvo 740
This 1990 Volvo 740 GLE Wagon is said to have the rear jump seats and appears to seat seven passengers. It is said to have recently had some maintenance, but might need a new timing belt or excorsism…who knows, it is very reliable, until it stops working. Great car. Lots of patina. Find it here on craigslist for $700 in Richmond, CA.
My bet is on a fuel system relay for the phantom stalling. I have a glove box full of them in my 700 series cars. That or the engine ground that goes from the back of the head by the dizzy to the firewall.
Anyways… this thing is just screaming for a LSx swap. Or a body swap for my swiss-cheesed and Fred Flintstone Floor equipped '89 745t ice racer.
Not to internet stalk, but are you on Turbobricks RyanM? There's a wealth of RWD Volvo knowledge there if you can wade through all the posturing hipsters and neckbearded weirdos. I didn't realize you had Grandpa-series Volvos until reading the comment above.
CFlo, I've been on Turbobricks since it was a mailing list and Angel still ran the show (not as RyanM though). Haven't been back since the aforementioned turds pretty much took over the site.
I've owned half a dozen 700/900 series… mostly turbos, all wagons. 1988 765 turbo, 1989 745 turbo (still own), 1991 745 turbo, 1992 745 turbo, 1994 945 turbo, and a 1997 V90. Old Grandpa Tune (OGT) FTW!!!
Now a'days I don't always go on Volvo sites, but when I do, I prefer MVS, Brickboard, and Volvospeed.
