Fire Sale: 1982 Renault Fuego

The Fuego was built by Renault from 1980 to 1986, sold in the US through AMC dealers and featured such innovations as the world’s first keyless remote system…which is funny because this next Fuego is being offered sans keys. And it’s on a trailer….but at least the listed price is low and this appears to be a turbocharged manual transmission equipped Fuego…future classic for sure. Find this 1982 Renault Fuego offered for a 24 Hrs of LeMons friendly $700 CAD ($515 USD) via theFacebook themarketplace. Tip from Erik202.

Had an '84 Fuego with the smooth and efficient 2.2 L non-turbo with 5-speed manual. Find that engine from a Renault/Eagle Medallion to replace the unimpressive 1.6 L turbo. Fuego has excellent handling, super comfortable seats.
If you want an easy upgrade for a Lotus Europa powertrain, this is it.
The transmission alone is worth at least twice this, and is used in several mid engine cars.
If this were within 300 or so miles from me I would have already bought this.
What synchronicity! I was watching the 1984 F1 German GP a few days ago and the Renault team engineer is showing off the new Fuego in the paddock to John Bisignano before the race. It starts around 7:00 youtube.com/watch?v=vzyuaExITpo&list=PLc1oKw1H5RYTZxnr3WwWPFg-fqPeE1dEw&index=22
Looks like it's already taken.
Wonder if an Audi S4 drivetrain would have fit.
