Fintail Heckflosse: 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220S W111

This next car comes as a tip from Dave in Tampa who writes: An astonishing deal on a bona fide classic with air conditioning and a three (four?) on the tree. It actually pains me to share this rather than go buy it, but I’m trying to lighten my load so we can move abroad. (sigh). Find this 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220S W111 offered for $4,500 in St Peteresburg, FL via floridabook rustybumper.

It has a four on the tree. I have a 220SE , the fuel injected version of this that’s been sitting for about 30 years.
I had a project 220S that coincided with years trapped in a disaster marriage and a marginal job. So I sold the project, got a divorce and changed vocations.
Man I miss that project. Could’ve been awesome. I’d guess most restorations that aren’t completed have similar dis-motivations and unincentives.
Whoever buys this, assuming no buckets of hidden bondo, is getting a steal.
That air conditioning unit looks like something out of Dr.. Strangelove. The rust from the humidity on the bumper is a clue to the percolating going on elsewhere I would posit. But a beautiful color and I still miss my ‘ 67 200 with the Woodstock images on the curtains in the rear windows. Don’task me why.
