Factory Original: 1978 Dodge D150 Warlock

The Warlock was part of Dodge’s D-Series lineup of full-sized pickup trucks, but instead of hauling around construction equipment, this thing was designed to run around the weekend car show circuit. Similar in concept to the Li’l Red Express Truck, Midnite Express, or the Macho Power Wagon, the Warlock included a custom exhaust stack, fancy paint scheme, and gaudy Warlock by Dodge plaques announcing to the world that you had arrived. Most folks on the street today will assume you are driving around in some custom-built thing you assembled under a tent in your side yard…but you’ll know it is factory original. Find this 1978 Dodge D150 Warlock bidding for $17,600 in Lakewood, CA via ebay motors with 3 days to go.

From the seller:

Definition’s of the word rare : not common or frequent; very unusual

The definition is what describes the true rarity of this factory 440 V8 Dodge Warlock Truck

The Dodge Warlock was part of the “Adult Toys” line of specialized vehicles in the late 70s, offering unique designs and powerful engines to stand out from standard versions. A few to mentioned was the Lil Red Express, The Macho Power Wagon & The Warlock

What makes this Warlock so rare? A factory 440 V8 engine. With no real record of production #’s from what I can find it’s been said to be 1 out of 74 produced in 1978 sporting the 440 V8 engine.

Here below has the original equipment label showing it to be in fact a real documented 440 Warlock.

VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

Usually the Equipment labels are long gone making it hard to document a real Warlock, this one has survived & come’s tucked away safely – Option Code # GK9601 Warlock Package

Vin #D13BD8J505685

D = 2WD 1 = 1/2 Ton 3 = Step Side B = Gross Weight 6,001 – 10,000 lbs D = 440 V8 8 = 1978 J = Assembly Plant Ontario, Canada

History – Belonged to a elder German teacher throughout most of recent years who had a heart for old Dodges, Truck was located in the southern California area in the upscale part of Upland, Ca. He got it from his friend who had it for many years who also was a Dodge enthusiast. it was mentioned that the Dodge had been a California truck all of its life. The owner had retired from being a teacher & wasn’t driving it much deciding it’s time to let it go.

A great example of a solid dry California classic truck. Dry floors & undercarriage. Never been in any accidents or appears to have or had any rust issues, great bones on this Dodge truck body. Factory Color Monotone Black, it went thru a cosmetic restoration in 2017 which included a repaint, some interior done as well as some nice chrome bumpers. Interior shows well, carpet had been replaced. The Warlock accent gold striping on the dashboard I was told was never re-striped & are original, the rest of the classic Warlock stripes have been redone & show nicely. Paint shows well, looking up closer you’ll notice normal blemishes for it’s age some chips, minor touch ups, minor scratches & ect.. Truck looks nice but my no means a trailer queen.

Under the hood it has it’s 440 engine appearing to be stock looking & it was mentioned the 440 engine is indeed original.

RB 440 block for 1978

with Correct Casting # 4006630 – 440

Engine ID Stamp Pad on (front of block) 8T 440 E – also indicating a 1978 440 block

Mechanically the truck is running & driving in great shape, engine starts right up & is sound. Has factory working AC & power steering. Automatic transmission shifts & brakes work fine. The Dodge is a great truck to cruise & I gets plenty of attention whenever it is driven. Passed last California smog emissions inspection as usual with no issues. Extra parts that go along with the truck is the original Carter Thermo-Quad carburetor which is off & in a box, currently has a Edelbrock carburetor on. Also comes with the original AM FM 8-Track radio with a box of 8-Tracks to go with it (currently has a retro bluetooth radio)

Has a clean California title & is currently registered here in CA until Jan 2025 – I am a private seller within recent months acquired this gem through the owner who I have spoken to with over the years. Cool custom California plates that read out HEXER which translate to Witcher in German (How cool of the thought, a elder german teacher driving a big block warlock to school with the lic plates reading Hexer lol)

These trucks hardly ever come up for sale, Here’s your chance to own a documented original Warlock being listed for sale for the first time publicly at No Reserve Auction! No telling when or if a true 440 Warlock will present itself on the market again. Not being advertised as a concourse trailer queen, but an original California truck in good driver quality condition. I’ve added & uploaded plenty of extra photos & videos so please scroll all the way down & examine all pics throughly as well read my terms below before bidding.
