Extraterrestrial Big Cat: 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible
I am a big fan of the Mercury Cougar, not just because of all the instantly accessible cougar jokes, but also because they offer a great pony car experience with a twist of lime. For the first generation (1967-1970) they were typically well equipped with V8s, power brakes, power steering, 4bbl carbs, all the good stuff that you might find in a Mustang if you look long enough. Find this 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible bidding here on eBay
for $15,600 with a few hours to go, located in Old Bridge, NJ.
This Mercury Cougar is the sporty XR-7 model that is described as a 1-owner original survivor with factory AC. It looks really nice and should move nicely with the 4-bbl 351 Windsor V8 rated at 340 horsepower mated to an automatic gearbox.

Quote from my late grandfather :"a mercury is just a ford with lockwashers" . But he also said "if god wanted a metric system, he'd of had ten apostles" .
SOLD..
The seller of this vehicle has sold many good looking cars in the past few years many, if not all no reserve auctions, so I guess he is in them right. I wish I knew him so I could get a look at all of them before they go to auction.
Worthy of note is the fact that all Cougars had V8s in those days and all 69-70 models had the 351 or larger (Windsor in '69 moving to Cleveland in '70 with some exceptions).
