Exposed V8 Swap: 1994 BMW 318ti
There are two potential paths when building a fast custom car — the first is to make it a sleeper, hide the engine and make it look stock, the second is to make it a waker, which involves poking shiny bits of the engine through a sawz-all cut hole in the hood. Guess which one DT is going to feature next. Find this 1994 BMW 318ti V8 Swap offered for $7500 in Olympia, WA via craigslist. Tip from Matt C.
From the seller:

Fit & finish, we don't need no stinkin' fit & finish!
Call me an old fuddy-duddy, but if it doesn't fit, it doesn't belong there. Oh, and all you kids, get off my lawn!
What if it rains?
Free water injection?
How often does it rain in Washington… ohh I see the issue now 🙁
Can someone get some video of the horn blowing? It looks to be pointed straight up at the hood with a huge hole in it. Just wondering what noise that makes.
Sell it to K & N
The strange thing is that an LS actually fits under the hood fine. Decisions were made here.
Yep, definite pass on this one if I were shopping.
This guy retained the truck intake manifold and accessories, hence the hood hole. Won't fit otherwise. The GenIII/GenIV engines will fit but only with LS car-style intake and accessories. Cheaper to leave the truck stuff on there and cut a hole.
Thanks for the explanation. Cheaper yes, but to me it is an admission of defeat. I suppose a 1994 BMW 318 is not a terribly valuable car , so quick and dirty did the trick. On the plus side, it probably is a lot of fun to drive.
The 1994 E36/5 (318ti) wasn't sold in the US by BMW. Either this is a later year car, or imported from elsewhere. Or maybe VIN engineered.
Looks like perfect daily driver for Bay Area freeways (errr parking lots)
Love it but it's not BMW V8 for my to
Grr. New phone…it's a BMW V8 for my ti
And of course, it had to be a fucking slush-box tranny!
UGH!!!
Hmmm- The only thing I would have done different is mount the ECU a LITTLE closer to the exhaust!!!

Nothing a little snorkus wouldn't fix. [image src=" static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/mediumlarge/sse-950-72102_w_ml.jpg" width="400px"/]
I expect to see this on BaT on Weds.
