Execute Order Vee 66: 1986 Buick Grand National

The Buick Regal was a G-body coupe from General Motors that introduced the US to turbocharged performance and in 1978 was one of three cars available with a factory turbo; (the others being the SAAB 99 and Porsche 911 Turbo). The 99 and 911 were canyon carvers with small engines and manual transmissions but the Regal Grand National was an automatic transmission equipped cruiser that used a low pressure turbo and big displacement to go fast in a straight line. At the risk of being “that guy”, didn’t the Corsair introduce turbocharging on a domestic car?
Air cooled doesn’t count. I mean, ah, er……..
The 1962 Oldmobile F-85 Jetfire would like a word.
Not a bad ride for a GN fan, but a little steep for a non-original car with close to a 150k on the clock. Don’t expect this one to go up in value either. Seller says he has the original parts (which is good) but unless it’s put back to OEM spec, coupled with a factory dash/gauge cluster, this is the most likely the highest dollar amount this GN will ever see. Looks clean/straight (on my phone screen anyway) and a fun option for someone to enjoy some classic turbo Buick performance without breaking the bank. Provided it has been taken care of for most of those 144k miles, these drive trains are solid as hell…
A lot of this offering delivery for GN’s on CL with prices too good to be true are scams. And by a lot, I mean ALL of them. I’m an 87 GN owner and the boards/FB groups are full of stories. People are paying nearly 20K for rollers currently. I’ll make sure to call this one out.
