Every Road Is A Lake: 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

This next car comes as a tip from Jim who writes; This is the real deal and from bayside no less. Better check the trunk for a body. Yes, these big DeVille coupe/verts have a colossal trunk that can fit an entire load of your stuff or friends or whatever. But the best part of classic Cadillac cruising is the feeling of total disconnection from the typical driving experience. The hood is so far in front of you that the headlights might as well be in another zip code (it doesn’t really matter because they put out as much light as a zippo on a windy night) and the steering wheel is totally unconcerned with whatever the road (or an opossum) might be doing. So you don’t worry about your Nürburgring lap times or how fast it’ll go in the 1/4 mile — you just enjoy the soothing rocking motions of this road going pleasure craft. Find this 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible offered for $13,500 in Bayside, NY via craigslist.

NO, I WONT TAKE $10K FOR IT.
Just did a $3500 paint job. Original paint was faded and there were some rust spots. Now its all taken care of.
Power steering, Power breaks and new power top installed an year ago.. All the major things are done. Some trims could be changed. you dont need anything to drive this around. Engine runs good. I didn’t wash the engine after the paint job. Still paint dust on it. Need a good clean up. Interior is decent. No rips. shows age. Windows goes up and down. Rear windows go down slow.
Paint color is the original color. It says banana yellow. I only see coffee/ beige color. Unless I am color blind.
Car had 2 owners. 1st owner 44 years. 2nd owner since then. Mileage is original @ 141000.
Front fender turning/marker lights, just arrived.

Nice looking car. I’m not interested in a convertible or I would call him and ask why he is selling right after an expensive paint job?
“…there were some rust spots. Now its all taken care of.” That always makes me wonder if It was done correctly or just covered up. It would be so much easier for me to see the rust issues and let me decide how to fix them, and how much I wanted to spend.
I just spotted something that has me curious. seller says it is 1966, the headline says 1967. Inquiring minds ya know… lol
That was my bad — I owned a 67 Coupe DeVille back in the day, got that stuck in my head.
As far as 1/4 mile times it’s in the mid 17s. I took my mother’s 1966 ‘vert to Lion’s Drag Strip every Wednesday night until one burnout left all the torque converter fins in the bottom. Driving it home in 1st gear with a sound like winding a broken alarm clock. And my parents STILL let me use the car.
It is a ’66..the ’67’s had a different profile and the rear fins changed. I had a ’65 Sedan De Ville, that looked like a ’66 except for the verticle chrome down the tailight and a different license area chrome surround, that I bought from a pimp who lived behind Madison Square Garden……..an absolutely beautiful light blue with perfect leather.for all of seven hundred dollars…of course Nixon was president.
This is worth loooking at but being a eastern car who knows wjhat lays beneath the shiny paint………Bring A Magnet!
