Electric overload(ed): Electrified 1998 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Another day, another Miata post on good old DT. We’ve done a fastback, blown heart transplant and cream puff and there was once even a diesel conversion featured, so now today’s answer is a plug-in electric conversion. Supposedly, this is the future of classic car ownership, once the last gallon of crude is burned off in China while making a rubber spatula for Walmart. I’m skeptical, but I’m always the last in line. Find this 1998(?) Mazda MX-5 Miata EV – Plug in Electric Conversion for sale in Spanaway, WA for $29,999 via craigslist.
One small blurry flip phone picture is apparenly all the seller could provide. Maybe the batteries in his camera were dead (oh, the irony).

That seems somewhat churlish . No one gets pissed off here. We are merely amused. Heres an electrified E9 that once made 600 hp at the wheels…and later caught fire and burned up…..I mean crispy…….the shell isnt even usable…a few panels maybe

Impressive build, insane price. Electric vehicles can use a transmission just fine, but Tesla's don't. Electric motors make peak torque at 0 RPM, so the rational for a transmission is more for higher speeds than anything else
That's an impressive build sheet. An MX-5 that does 0-60 in 4 seconds costs a lot more than $30k, and the instant torque on an electric car is extremely addictive. This thing would absolutely roast those rear tires.
For reference, the last gen Nissan Leaf topped out at 30KwH battery packs, so I'd guess this lighter Miata might get ~150 on a charge (if you keep your foot out of it – good luck!)
