EJ25 Powered Ford GT40 Kit: 1965 Fiberfab Avenger

In 2015 Ford announced that they were returning to the 24 Hrs of LeMans in 2016 with an EcoBoost V6 powered racer to compete in the LM GTE Pro class. Early races were marked by the typical issues you’d expect from a brand new race car, but Chip Ganassi Racing scored their first win last weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and are looking sporty for LeMans on the weekend of June 18-19th. Good for Ford and with any luck they will sell a few of the Canadian built GT street cars when they hit show rooms for the 2017 model year. Of course you aren’t going to be able to buy your own Ford GT without first becoming a millionaire, so why not take a look at what you can get that looks like a Ford GT. Like this 1965 Fiberfab Avenger here on eBay bidding for $6,766 with 3 days to go, located in Kyle, TX.
I hate to admit it, but for some strange reason this car looks good to my (completely sober) eye. If the Ford GT is Captain America, then this thing is “The Shield” — a campier and less refined superhero, but an underdog in the world of moder–OKAY, I CAN’T IGNORE THE WHEELS ANYMORE, they need to be burned with fire.

Ahhh…much better. It isn’t the wheel size/style/shape that is so objectionable, but the level of chromeyness is totally inappropriate for something that looks like it belongs on a track. Get some NASCAR style black steelies or a set of Minilites.

This would have started life back in the 1960s as some Volkswagen Beetle powered gas chamber, but it is now powered by a Subaru EJ25 flat-4, which is a huge step up in performance, but it probably needs a turbocharger.

See another car that just needs a different set of wheels and a turbocharger to live up to its racey looks? tips@dailyturismo.com
Hey, who says I'm not already a millionaire? Have you that little faith in the income of your readership?
[looks at garage full of non-runners, crap heaps, oil stains and rust]
Okay, so you're right.
Sorry, I'd have a tough time getting my big mac through that side glass. I'll have to pass.
Who needs a turbo when you can stickercharge!
Mrkwong nailed it! What a ridiculous collection of stickers with products not even used on the car. I have owned 2 of these cars. You are correct about not fitting a burger through the Windows and my car has full size glass not the cut out plexus this guy has. The cars can be quite good looking as long as you avoid the the stickers/racing stripes, most importantly remember that it is NOT a GT40!
Why does My car look like shit in a turbo garage, Bangum?
