E28 Survivor: 1987 BMW 535i

This next BMW won’t win best of show at the next Concours D’Alphonse, but it should get you from point-a to point-b without too much fuss. The seller picked it up as a project car and it still needs some additional sorting, but a 535i with a manual box and an LSD is not a bad thing at all. Find this 1987 BMW 535i offered for $5500 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist.

Hi Craigslist, here for sale is my 1987 BMW 535is. While it is a little rough around the edges, it has been quite reliable and loads of fun. I picked it up last year as a bit of a project and have done a moderate amount of work to it:

-New fuel pump and filter.
-New differential mount.
-New engine and transmission mounts (polyurethane).
-New plugs and a handful of new lines and hoses.
-New upper and lower control arms.
-New tie rods and ends.
-New rear pitman arms.

This thing is a blast to drive and the factory options on it rock too, the most notable options being the very 1980s rubber spoiler, the power sport seats, and the limited-slip differential.

That said, it certainly has its issues. The interior obviously needs some attention, the paint has seen better days, it needs its wheels balanced, and it’s got an oil leak (typical, lol). Despite these things, it is a charming little E28 and an absolute joy to drive.

$5,500. Local, cash deals only. serious inquiries only – I am working on moving right now and it’s a pain so please don’t come to see it unless you are seriously interested.
