E28 Lego Kit: 1984 BMW 524TD Ford V8 Ready

Ohh…this is one is so tempting. Seriously, please buy this car before I do. It combines the sweet styling of an E28 with the inevitable torque of a small block Ford V8. Just need to change the plan from the current AOD/C4 to a T5 and we’re in business. Oh yeah, you’ll also need to assemble everything yourself because it comes like a Lego kit. Find this 1984 BMW 524TD Ford V8 Ready offered for $2850 in Santa Rosa, CA via craigslist.

I’d rather pay the seller another couple thousand dollars to put it all together for me. He seems fairly capable! Maybe his wife would be ok with his hobby if it was bringing in cash.
Man, those wood blocks on the Harbor Freight dollies look sketchy. No way I’d go underneath the car or attempt to move it.
I’ve been wondering how I could achieve a moderate lift in my garage without investing $2k in a setup. I have decided that this strategy is not the answer.

Well now I know what to drive around looking for the next time trash day rolls around…..

I have a pair of ramps given to me by a neighbor who used to use them to get under her Triumph Spitfire. She, later he, was a total character. Got rid of the Spit when she realized it was “a deathtrap”.
The ramps, I believe, were made from bridge girders or something, hand cut and welded. The treads of the ramp are closely spaced angle bar with the pointy corner aimed up. I’m sure you could run an armored personnel carrier up those things, even if the personnel were a dozen armored rhinoceroses. Well, I guess rhinoceroses are armored by default. Whatever. I’ll post a photo one of these days.
Considering it was a Spitfire, you could probably lift that off the ground by bench-pressing it. Those ramps sound like complete ludicrous overkill for one. I approve.
