DT Does SEMA 2017
Last week, I had the good fortune to attend the SEMA Show and the AAPEX show, which together makes for a few great days of car parts and junk. SEMA is the biggest aftermarket consumer parts show on the planet and AAPEX is the biggest aftermarket wholesale parts that you can find.
The SEMA show is a giant collection of cars, bikes, parts, and Las Vegas talent. It is technically an industry only event and the general public is not invited, but of course you will see all manner of people wandering around and taking pictures…like me! Photos below!
Oy vey, is there a Yiddish word for every one of those cars, or what? Yes there is: ongepotchket
What the heck is that white sharky thing with the three jet engines on top? Why does the otherwise attractive blue Mustang have such big feet and wear a tiara? And I do not like the exposed screw heads fender flares thing, no I do not.
Where's the "talent"?
Googled up "SEMA 2017 talent show" and this guy came up first. Of his talent with ongepotchket cars, I have no clue.

SEMA is like "Hey look at me, look over here, I F@*Ked up this car more that that other guy"
SEMA is such a big show and it's easy to get distracted by all of the…less tasteful distractions. However, I attended 10 years in a row, and every time I could always find stuff that was subtle, well built, and extremely cool. They were usually stuffed into a corner or adjacent to a walkway somewhere, and you had to elbow your way through a mob of Master Fabricators(TM) to get a look.
