Don’t Get Salty With Me: 1984 BMW 528e*

I love E28s so much that I drove two of them to their destruction at 24 Hrs of LeMons events…but maybe I shouldn’t admit that to the president of the BMW E28 Fanboi Club (TM). This next E28 looks like the slow 528e. The e was short for eta or the Greek symbol engineers and nerds use to denote efficiency and the engine was a low compression low revving lump designed to give you fuel economy instead of goosebumps. Luckily for us the builder of this next car put a “731” head from a Euro 323i with hotter cam, larger intake ports to give 9.1 ratio compression and with a megasquirt DIY fuel management system this thing revs to 6,500 rpm like a 535i. Anyway, if I lost you, I apologize, but for the people who are still reading, this thing should be fun if you are willing to live with some Massachusetts rust and need an LSD equipped winter beater for your wintery roads. The car runs and shifts fine.
All lights work. Rust free except for a spot on the left rear corner behind the bumper and some rust spots on the front inner section of the front doors.

In a past few weeks I did four 500 mile trips with it and it runs great.
