Dashboard of the Future: 1989 Buick Riviera

I find myself oddly trapped by the gravitational pull of this next car. It isn’t the faded khaki paint or the dirty faux-wire wheel caps that gets me…or the furry vinyl landau roof…no…it is the Buick graphic control. It is the funky monochromatic dash mounted 9-inch CRT that has 6 buttons for you to cycle through and enjoy a sight of the past’s future. Find this 1989 Buick Riviera offered for $4,200 in Dahlonega, GA via craigslist. Tip from Matt.

Let’s have a wee bit of scotch now Ladie.
It’s like a Tesla dashboard… that is still running MS-DOS.
Which car was the genesis of the mass production electronic in-dash information screen? This Buick has to be one of the earliest, but I’m sure there are others. Anyone know? Were there any pre-1980s?
The mid 70s Aston Martin Lagonda used a digital dashboard. It occasionally worked.
