Crapbox Friday: 2008 Saturn Astra XR Hatchback

Inside GM HQ circa 2007: Hey guys, I got this great idea. Let’s take a Belgian built Vauxhall hatchback, export it to the USA and put it in the Saturn dealership. Consumers are already completely confused as to what the heck Saturn is, this will be even betta. Is it more or less premium than Chevrolet? Is it better than Oldsmobile, and where does Pontiac fit in? Consumas aren’t gonna know what hit ’em. But the best part is that we’ll close the entire division in a few years and leave everybody with no parts support. Gee, Burt, that’s the best idea eva, you’re gonna be CEO someday. I know, right? Now let’s go make some really uncomfortable Cadillacs! Find this 2008 Saturn Astra XR Hatchback offered for $3950 in Vallejo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Matt V.

Every third car here is one of these. Automotive equivalent of a lunch of packing peanuts and puddle water.
Only 165k miles? This dealer must have been chuckling as he wrote this ad.
I have a Saturn Vue with over 175,000 miles that still runs great. GM should never have discontinued the brand. They could have made some excellent Saturn EVs.
