The R50/52/53 generation of BMW’s new Mini Cooper was built from 2001 through 2006 (2008 for convertible) win a variety of hatchback and convertible versions. There was a basic Cooper version with a non-turbo 1.6 liter inline-4 and the 1.6 liter supercharged Cooper S version, like the one here today. But today’s Cooper S isn’t just a cool 6-speed manual; it also features the limited edition “Chrono Package” that swapped the huge center-mounted speedo for a multi-gage setup – so that the tach and speedo sit in a normal “driver centered” position. I don’t need my passengers telling me how fast I’m going, I can judge speed by their screams. The Mini is the tightest Mini I drove, performs flawlessly, Ice cold AC, everything is working as it should.
The condition for an original survivor is excellent, was purchased from a Mini specialist in Canton Ohio, they put a new clutch tires and brake pads in 2022. The clutch feels really good, very important this has been done, a $3k to have replaced.
3 set of keys including the valet key, also pictured our the original factory Berber mats.
The Mini is stored in a Climate controlled garage covered up; the paint is very nice the interior show almost new a very well-preserved example.
It will be really hard pressed to find a 05 R53 Mini with all the boxes checked and in this condition.

Every time I see one of these “chrono package” instrument clusters I am reminded of the irrational hatred I have for the designer(s) that singed off the more prevalent gauge layout.
The issue with these is the center cluster is a weird design and it is the literal center point of the dash. The 2 pods are vastly superior to just having 1, but the center cluster just looks odd.
When I had a MINI there were rumors that someone wired up the normal speedo in a chrono pack car but had the speedometer go at 1.5 times then correct speed to mess with passengers.
That’s funny — I own a chrono package Mini and I assumed it was a convertible thing. I guess I should be happy I got the preferred version!
