Chevy V8 Power: 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2
This next car came with a burst of small block enhanced déjà vu. I swear I’ve seen this exact same car before…offered for a same price..but it appears the car listed here in 2017 for roughly the same price and condition is NOT the same car but a doppelganger. So…do the same reasons for featuring that car still apply? You bet! The added reliability and reduced cost of the Chebby swap makes me wanna have a V8. Find this 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2 offered for $4,500 in Lebanon, OR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

This is a great example of the timeless 1976 series 2 XJ style. The car has been restored in past years with new upholstery, headliner, wood finishes, suspension rebuild, conversion to 350 Chevy engine (355 bored and balanced), rebuilt 700r4 overdrive transmission, just re-built the carburetor, newer paint and tinted windows. Comes with good tires. The only detractor is that the paint has some bubbling over the top but it still shines and looks great. The car drives like a dream and sounds really great with a quiet yet throaty 350 rumble. I have receipts for around $30k in restoration work. The car is set up to drive and looks awesome on the road. Definitely a head turner and a joy to step into.
No out of state sales, no trades, cash only. And we Do Not need help selling the car.

A Jaguar with an american V8 it referred to as a "lump". I have owned 6 old Jaguars, and worked on many more. The most reliable part of the car is the engine. The swap hasn't added any reliability or reduced any cost. The time, effort and money spent on the swap hasn't increased the value of this car.
This Jag engine is for sale near to me and for some reason I want it. Don't know what I would do with it, Maybe add it to my english engine collection. I have a 1953 AJS engine sitting on a sculpture stand already.
There is also a XK8 for sale for $800. Maybe I could swap this into it
1966 Jaguar 4.2L Straight 6 Triple Carb
I could look at that Jag motor all day long.
Same, I need it : )
I don't feel that anybody drops a small block Chevrolet into a Jaguar to make a killing reselling them. I think the main reason is that it is more economical to use a sbc than to repair the original engine. An added bonus is that the cars already have a GM automatic transmission.
and now the dual zone control settings are hot and hotter?
