Chevy V8 Hot Rod: 1971 Toyota Corona Mark II Wagon
You know how I love to advertisements with bad photos and limited details of a typical craigslist posting? Yeah. Well, today I’m not going to do that with this next feature…is it because I’m feeling charitable? Nope. It is because this next car is potentially a huge bargain for what you get. Find this 1971 Toyota Corona Mk II Wagon offered for $5,900 in Orange County, CA via craigslist.
Does it matter that the seller doesn’t include a model identified and that I had to stare at photos of 1971 Toyotas to determine if this was a Corolla, Corona, or Mark II?? Nope. Does it matter that the seller doesn’t mention where he engine came from? Nope, because it looks like a Chevy 327 V8 to me. What about the portrait oriented photos? Nope, not a big deal, I can see what I need to see. What about the fact that the car has a custom paint job, is bumper-less, and has a totally custom interior? Nope, these are all great things, because $5,900 doesn’t even begin to cover the cost of swapping your own 327 V8 into a hulk of a Toyota wagon, or a paint job…etc.
And this ladies and gentlemen is where/how/when you get a good deal on a car. It isn’t the perfectly setup pictures with good details, it is the guy who just wants to sell his car. Seriously, somebody buy this car before I do. See another screamin deal? tips@dailyturismo.com
Nice find. You are really rolling this morning. British, American, Japanese, Japanese with American internals….. seller is short on words as well. Looks like a great deal.
paulmar said it all. Nice find guys. Thanks. TM
PS: Why doesn't my name come up automatically? Did my subscription payment come up NSF?
Why do people suck so much at taking photos of their car? It's not that hard.
Nice man. Car is still up and i had considered buying it but went with a 71 Corona Sedan Deluxe with a turbocharged 305/th400. I'll be starting an LS swap within the year and as far as I know will be the only one in the world with this particular setup.
