Chevrolet V8 Swapped: 1985 Volvo 740 Wagon

The Volvo 700 series was a family of executive cars built by Volvo from 1982 through 1992 and sold around the world to yuppies and families. The available engines from the factory included a variety of B-series 4-cylinder gasoline engines and a few inline-6 diesels. Obviously the fastest were the turbocharged and intercooled B23 from later years, and you they can be massaged for more power. But if you want to go REALLY fast in a vintage rear-drive Volvo (for cheap), it is easiest to find one with a giant V8 swapped and a 5-speed. Find this 1985 Volvo 740 Wagon offered for $8,850 in Everett, WA via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

Hi for sale I have my 1985 Volvo 740 that is 350 swapped with a manual 5 speed. I have had this volvo for 11 years no and I just don’t drive it anymore so its time to go. It runs and drives great, the motor is a late 80’s 350 with an Edelbrock RPM/Air gap intake, a new holley 570 carb, newer MSD ignition and a thumper comp cam. The motor has around 15000 miles as does the transmission it is a world-class t5 transmission. Everything else is mostly stock other than the rear end is welded. Just recently did all new brakes front & rear, coolant service and an oil change. Body and interior are in good shape for their age.Cons
Power steering has a slow leak
Odometer doesn’t work
Sunroof doesn’t work but doesn’t leak.Key words: Drift car, SBC, BBC, SBF, 350CI, drag car, sleeper, muscle car, project car,

Looks like fun. I loved my 740 turbo wagon. It was invisible to the police, I’d drive 85mph and the NY troupers would appear from nowhere and give the mustang I just passed a ticket.
The welded differential would indicate that this has not been driven gently.
Is that a screwdriver used as a shifter? Take my money!!! Looks like a fun ride.
