Cheap Way To Drive: 1983 Porsche 944

I read somewhere that Porsche was adjusting the prices for their new cars up to reflect to increased prices they are paying for parts and labor, and I was shocked to see that the base price for the cheapest Porsche hardtop (the Cayman) was up to $70k. Oof. That’s a lot of coin for a car that’ll be worth less than $10k (of today’s dollars) in 20 years, but I’m not worried about that depreciation because I’m still working on my collection of cars from the 80s. Find this 1983 Porsche 944 offered for $7500 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.

Salvage Title on a ’83 Beater. No Thanks
Nicer than any beater I’ve ever owned, that’s for sure.
Believe it or not, that price is on the high side for a salvage title car. These are lots of fun but crushingly expensive to keep on the road. They’ll break your heart.
Salvage title is DEATH ,as you know, in Calunicornia. But….if you must drive a beater , drive a PCar! And as I seek affirmation from everyone else of the road, I appreciate the thumbs up….or is that a middle finger?
My dad had one of these when I was a kid, it was an all-black 944, I loved that car.
