Buttered Pasta: 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT

A rising tide lifts all boats.  I guess that even applies to the previously cheap 116 series Alfa Romeos.  It used to be that around 6K would buy you a nice, driver quality Bertone GTV like the one featured last week, and a grand or two would buy you an Alfetta.  Now you can barely find a GTV to feature on DT that fits under the price cap, and the days of dirt cheap Alfettas seem to be over.  Find this 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale on Vashon Island, WA for $4,900 via craigslist.

The Alfetta GT was the wedgey successor to the much loved Bertone designed GTV.  The 116 series cars were a new chassis, featuring a de Deon rear suspension with a transaxle and inboard brakes.  They were powered by the venerable 2.0 liter DOHC all aluminium Alfa 4, but due to the weight of the new car’s massive crash bumpers and emission detuning, they were doggy, as compared to the outgoing 115’s.

Here’s the ad write up from the seller:

Full set of Campagnolo wheels, performance exhaust and various parts included with car. Also has rebuilt front calibers and new brake linings. Runs well, when purchased was driven from CA to Seattle. All maintenance records from previous owners are available. $4,900 OBO.
