Built 408 V8: 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura

The Ford Fairmont might have just been a family sedan sitting on Ford’s sweet Fox body platform, but add a Futura suffix to that name and BOOM you’ve got a fastback-ish coupe with a window where we’ve never seen a window before, unless you are looking at a Mercury Zephyr Z-7, which is the same exact car. Anyway, today’s Fairmont Futura is no ordinary small block 302 equipped 140ish horsepower stock thing…no, this has a ginormous 529 horsepower Fordstrokers 408 cubic inch pavement pulverizer under a huge cowl induction hood…why didn’t we get picks of the engine? Find this 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura offered for $17,900 in Western CT via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

Subframe connectors perhaps?
I always think of these as the enclosed version of the Ranchero except that they stopped making the Ranchero a couple years before. Ford did have a couple hundred of these pickup-a-fied into something called the Durango though.
Not a single photo of the motor, even on the Craigslist ad. What a dunce.
Wow.
