Brougham Camper: 1979 Ford Ranchero GT

By 1979 the Ford Ranchero nameplate had been around for 22 years and people were still confused it it was a truck with car styling or a car with truck styling. “Just don’t call it an El Camino” said Ford’s product planners who introduced a bigger and badder version of the Ranchero for the seventh and final generation (now based on the LTD II chassis). Today’s example comes from the final year of Ranchero production and features a sweet camper top so you can sleep in the back if your kicks you out for buying yet another malaise hooptie. Find this 1979 Ford Ranchero GT offered for $7900 in Walsenburg, CO via craigslist.

Apparently named after Henry Peter, Lord Brougham (1778-1868), who either invented or popularized the vehicle..
He was quite the guy,

You’d think it would occur to the seller to include a decent shot of the interior. Sheesh…
