Box Body: 1981 Chevrolet C-10

The classic formula for the “hot rod” was to start with a plebeian car offering and dump some big engine and maybe a suspension modification or two.  However, today’s cars are so fast and compitent from the factory that there isn’t much to make hotter, so you gotta start with something that was terrible to drive in the first place, like a third generation Chevy C10 pickup.  Like this 1981 Chevrolet C10 here on eBay bidding for $11,411 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Bettendorf, IA.

According to the seller:  New Mexico truck with all original sheet metal. Never a speck of rust anywhere on truck. Truck was blasted down to bare metal and a few subtle touches can be noticed on the exterior– drip rails and cab body line removed for a seamless, smooth surface to name a few. Truck was finished with numerous layers of paint/clear to finish with a show quality shine. Pinstripe is actually back masked and sprayed silver to match Bedliner and pull color out of interior— it’s not a raised stripe, but a buried painted line (done correctly!)   As stated, bed pockets were welded and filled in, as well as gas door removed from side of truck and reused to access fuel cell under bed of truck. Bed was then blocked, sanded, and sprayed with a tough silver bedliner to match silver of truck to make the bed functional.

Dang.  That is a serious paint job.

Under the hood is a 5.3 liter Chevrolet Gen III small block V8 (probably from a late model Suburban or equivalent) that should push something in the range of 325 horsepower before being modified with an LS1 style intake and injectors.
