Born a Subaru: 2006 Saab 9-2X

Everybody knows that the Saab 9-2X was actually built by Subaru on the Impreza WRX chassis, complete with Subaru engines and the only thing Saab about it was the badges. But it is still an interesting way to drive a cheap manual transmission equipped wagon with a boosted boxer engine and all-wheel-drive. Find this 2006 Saab 9-2X offered for $3995 in Southlake, TX via craigslist.

This is an NA car, I had the turbo version. Fun cars, lots of utility.
This was just before the Jet family’s big noisy divorce?
Mister Jet was away on business with the Germans and Mrs. Jet got mixed up with that cultural attaché from Japan at the ice racing after party. Carrying on like they were Porsches and Piechs.
I chuckled at far off the mark they were with “Saab used the Subaru Boxer engine for this limited release 9-2x model” when the truth is closer to “GM replaced the Subaru Impreza badge with Saab”. Yes, I know the fascia was a bit modified but I’m still 99% closer to the truth than the seller’s claim.
Thankfully this isn’t anywhere close to the blasphemy of a Saab 9-7x Trollblazer – and the asking price is compelling.
