Bodyman’s Special: 1967 Buick Sportwagon

This next car comes as a tip from Rock On! who calls it: The official station wagon of Daily Turismo!  Yes, the OG Buick Sportwagon is most certainly the official station wagon of Daily Turismo — partially because they fit the bill of being affordable, rare, cool, eccentric, and radical…but also because I’ve got a green one sitting in my garage.  Also, the seller of this vehicle seems like a cool old dude who would be fun to have a drink with. Find this 1967 Buick Sportwagon offered for $8,500 in Salinas, CA via craigslist.

Up for grabs is my 1967 Buick Sportwagon

340 4BBL 4SPD AUTO WITH OVERDRIVE

Custom dual exhaust

RUNS FANTASTIC (finally)

Purchased 8 years ago she’s had:

All wiring inspected

Rebuilt Front End

Rebuilt Transmission with less than 200 miles on it

Brand New Timing Chain with less than 100 miles on it

Leaking gas tank replaced (not the greatest looking)

New fuel lines

Fuel Pump

Fuel line filters

All engine leaks eliminated

New starter

New alternator

New battery

New dash lights

Four 2.5 year old Cooper Cobra tires with approximately 200 miles on them

2 New, 3 weeks old 8” GM “Rally type” rear wheels

Two 7” GM Rally wheels in front with 1 extra rim for spare (originals?)

Recent distributor shaft replacement with carburetor and timing corrections

New Plugs, new points, fluids changed umpteen times

Master Cylinder inspected and repaired

Front windshield replaced

Interior seats in excellent condition, door panels ok… all currently out of the car because media/sand blasting was going to be next

O’Reilly’s Faux Racing Buckets for 2 front seats at present

No headliner due to mold

Driver’s floor decent

Passenger floor Flintsone mode

Chrome trim needs shining up: it’s salvageable with elbow grease and know how

Bumpers too… maybe

Factory tinted top and side windows could be better

Window frames leak here and there

Drivers top back side window is cracked

Rust around window frames and here and there, mostly surface, some deep

Body man said the car would out live me

I’ve put less than 500 miles on this car in 8 years

She’s been covered the whole time

I exercise her 1-2 times a week

Photos are different iterations over the years

I’ll shoot a video, if CL can add it to the post, in a day or two

She’s a stunning 20 footer and a joy to drive

There’s more good and not much more bad aside from the necessary blasting and body work

I’m beat

In bad health

Don’t need money but I will release her to the right home

Great father/son project car

Great rat rod project UGH

Great raffle car

Great school project car

I pulled $6,500 and $7,000 thru eBay on my last two listings; buyers and I took different paths.

With purchase, inspection, transport, maintenance and repairs, I’m $15,000-$17,000 in to her easy.

I can’t imagine much else going wrong

Good time for a shakedown cruise

I’m old

I’m in pain

I’m grumpy

I’m not mean unless you insult me

Reasonable offers (to me) May be entertaining 😉

INSPECT HER BEFORE YOU OFFER

OR JUST GO AWAY

IF YOU DON’T SHOW UP

DON’T BOTHER TO RESCHEDULE
