Blue Alcyone: 1994 Subaru SVX

The Subaru SVX (known as the Alcyone in its home market of Japan) was designed by noted Italian Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign and was the most expensive Subaru built when it was introduced in 1991. Internet rumor claims that Subaru lost money on each SVX sold (which we find hard to believe) but the Japanese “bubble economy” and subsequent Japanese sports car market crash doomed the total US imports of the SVX to just about 14,000 in 5 years of production. Find this 1994 Subaru SVX offered for $4400 in Wilsonville, OR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Just before Subaru started adding AWD to all of their cars.
More sensible than a Citroën SM, so there’s that!
Tempting, but do people really buy cars with Venmo?
I could see the younger set trusting a Venmo or Cash app type transaction, I’ve sent several hundred for some transactions using them. I’d consider it as long as the car stayed in my possession until the money cleared whatever holds those apps use.
Seems to be in amazing shape for both the year and mileage. Original owner to boot. Never owned a Subaru so have no idea how these do in the long run, but still looks sharp.
Beware the transmission. Never was sold as a manual though some enterprising companies are offering aftermarket options. As they say, where there’s a will (and $$$$), there’s a way.

As much as I like the look of these, I’d much prefer the contemporary 300ZX.
Pinnacle of early ’90s JDM I say.
