Big Inline-6 Powered: 1976 AMC Matador
The Matador was a stately styled coupe/sedan/wagon that replaced the Rebel in 1971 as American Motor Corp’s (AMC) plus sized muscle coupe. In 1974 the Matador coupe was restyled in a completely different fashion from the sedan and it was cool enough for Francisco Scaramanga (one of Christopher Lee’s greatest performances) to use a flying version to escape James Bond in The Man with the Golden Gun. Find this 1976 AMC Matador offered for $7000 in Venice, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.

1976 AMC Matador Very unique auto . .
Super clean Florida car. I have the original Florida title and window sticker.
Runs good, everything works, zero rust, ice cold air, too.

Omg that interior is horrid rest of car not that bad.
I was going to go with the inverse and say, well, at least the interior is interesting.
I've seen pajama sets that pattern … it's very Golfy
Plaid split-bench and matching doors for the win! This car couldn't be more 70s even if you added shag carpet and an 8-track player. Far out, man!
I think my grandpa had a suit that pattern. It would look like a floating head was driving the car down the road!
I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect representation of everything that was wrong with 70's era cars…. but in nostalgic hindsight, that has become part of the charm.
The Detroit LamBORGini omage …
Clearly the inspiration for the Porsche Panamara
Go Kart Mozart (steering wheel) was checking out the weather chart
too bad about the steering wheel. wonder if you can get a replacement in plaid…or yellow.
