The last really beautiful Mercedes-Benz was a 1971 280SE. This may sound more than a bit fuddy-duddy, but since then they have screamed for stature and elegance and all I heard was "close, but no schnaps."
Bloated, misshapen and for too long doggedly unreliable; make mine pre-1972.
