Very nice little 4wd Toyota Tercel!

This
little
pampered 4×4 is one the nicest one you will ever find, very few of
these for sale would ever have the amount of work performed simply
because it will exceed the cars initial purchase price. I’m not a
mechanic by any stretch so I search for a long time for a car that was
100% gone through. Having owned a few of these of the years this car
hands down wins on power/performance and function, within the scope of
80’s econ cruisers. These cars are very capable in the snow, possible
due to their weight distribution and slim tire profile.

It
drives like a dream and handles nicely. The 4 wheel drive works flawlessly. The
engine was rebuilt by a certified Toyota mechanic and has 17k miles on rebuild.
Also in the past 6 months it has had a new weber carburetor installed with
fuel pressure regulator
, new timing belt and water pump, new alternator and
battery
, recent valve adjustment and compression check [ registered 175lbs in
each cylinder], new fuel pump and fuel filter, new intake manifold gaskets, new
radiator
, distributor, new axle bearings, tune-up, new front brake rotors and
pads
, new rear brake drums and brake shoes. Also has new exhaust installed.

Essentially the
car was rebuilt for his son to drive, when the work was completed
his son wasn’t impressed by the brick like styling of the car and it was
sold to me. If you are one of the many who are now familiar with this
classic 4WD you will appreciate the capability of one of Toyota
best 80’s cars.

It
also
has the very rare “compound” extra gear [besides the 5 spd] for
extra power. This gear is available when in 4WD low, then you can
access the 6th UL speed for climbing just about anything. One neat
feature is the car’s working “incline-meter” with lights, this is more
form than function but it’s looks cool, these are known to sell on eBay
for hundreds.

Also the
original radio AM/FM works which is quite rare to find. All
windows work correctly and most of the interior plastics are in great
shape.

This
vehicle is strong with no surprises, all glass is perfect and tires are good.
The wheels have been upgraded to 14″ wheels and tires.

Thanks
for looking and Happy Bidding!

This
a
rust free vehicle that lived it’s life in Oregon, then in the last few
years was moved to New Mexico. This car does not have California
compliant smog equipment so bid accordingly. The money spent on the car
will likely be close to the sale price so this is a terrific rust free
example of 4WD Tercel. The remaining item that I would do is a paint
job, this isn’t required except for some flaking near the door roof
gutters and the rear hatch.

When
I was a kid my first car was my Dad’s old Tercel with 250K miles on the
clock, it is unbelievable how much better this car runs than my Dad’s
old car. This car was professionally restored by a Toyota mechanic who
either rebuilt or replaced anything that needed service. I’ve personally
driven the car non-stop from New Mexico to San Diego with no issues.
The reason I’m selling is I’m purchasing a older Land Cruiser and this
will need to go to make room. I’ve mentioned with all the new carburetor
work, and exhaust work this car would not be California SMOG compliant
so California Bidders would not be advised, you will be responsible for
paying $500 non-refundable deposit at auction close with remaining
balance within 5 days. I’m happy to work with a car shipper if you make
arrangements, I recommend uship.com for shipping quotes.

Buyers are welcome to request more pictures or to come view the car in person. Car is currently located in San Diego, 92126.
