The 5th gen Impala (1965-1970) is one of those iconic and instantly recognizable classics. It brings out smiles everywhere it goes, even when it is equipped with 13inch Daytons or black steelies with Hoosiers. The big beast is so thoroughly American that you’d been automatically banished to go live in a mud hut with Eduardo Saverin if you ever said anything bad about the Impala.
Under the hood of this 2-door beauty is a Chevy 283 “TurboFire” (which regrettably contained no turbo…but it does have fire on the inside) small block V8 — good for 195 horsepower and 285 ft-lbs of torque. This one is shifted with a 2-speed powerglide automatic, which isn’t the sportiest option but is befitting of a fullsize cruiser.
The current bidding price on this classic is getting high, but the condition looks great in the pictures, and it doesn’t need anything. The seller admits that the paint is an older respray, but everything else (aside from the carpet) is original stuff from the factory.

1965 was the start of about a five or six year era where almost everything GM shipped was attractive.
Okay, not so impressed with some of the side-body contours on Buicks, but everything else was classic.
Great looking car and at the current bid of 14.2K, not outrageously high. Appears if bidding slows someone may get a pretty nice car…
My girlfriend's mother had one of these in Primrose yellow with a black interior, and I always thought this to be an extremely attractive body style. This one is in wonderful shape, but this interior colour would not be my first choice and I'd be forced to install a four on the floor with a Hurst shifter….:)

Given my advanced age I cant get my (somewhat) exploded head around the price for mid sixties GM's like this. While a great looking example, having been around when you couldn't give these away , especially with a slushbox, I am amazed at the prices. Everything being relative, I guess younger folks faced with the prospect of a Nissan, might view this as an attractive alternative. That they dont know how in general, to shift a four on the floor makes it all the more attractive. Still i can't get the image of the young Doctor down the street buying this for his hottie wife back in the day.
