American Icon: 1965 Chevrolet Impala

The redesigned 5th generation Impala was launched in 1965 on Chevrolet’s B-body platform, where it set an all-time sales record of over 1 million units for one model year, a record that still stands today.  Over the years, many Impalas have fallen victim to mad scientist customizers, so it is nice to see one that is fully stock and ready to cruise.  Find this  1965 Chevrolet Impala here on eBay bidding for $14,200 located in Burlington, WA with 2 days to go.

The 5th gen Impala (1965-1970) is one of those iconic and instantly recognizable classics.  It brings out smiles everywhere it goes, even when it is equipped with 13inch Daytons or black steelies with Hoosiers.  The big beast is so thoroughly American that you’d been automatically banished to go live in a mud hut with Eduardo Saverin if you ever said anything bad about the Impala.

Under the hood of this 2-door beauty is a Chevy 283 “TurboFire” (which regrettably contained no turbo…but it does have fire on the inside) small block V8 — good for 195 horsepower and 285 ft-lbs of torque.  This one is shifted with a 2-speed powerglide automatic, which isn’t the sportiest option but is befitting of a fullsize cruiser.

The current bidding price on this classic is getting high, but the condition looks great in the pictures, and it doesn’t need anything.  The seller admits that the paint is an older respray, but everything else (aside from the carpet) is original stuff from the factory.
