Actually Spits Fire: 1976 Triumph Spitfire

This next car comes as a tip from Matt C who writes: Here we have a DT priced Triumph Spitfire with a small block Chevy. The owner did not quite finish the project, possibly remembering his own mortality at the last minute. Yikes, that is indeed a terrifying custom, but I have to say that strangest thing about the entire build is the location and orientation of the radiator. Find this 1976 Triumph Spitfire offered for $5,300 in McDonough, GA via fakeslash metabork.

Am I the only one that thinks the intake looks like a 3-eyed Wall-E?

“runs but could use a carburetor rebuild”
Umm yeah. Every time I see one of these big air scoops with butterflies on top of a carburetor I can’t help but wonder how the hell it is supposed to work. It looks to me like the worlds fanciest choke. I mean when the butterflies are closed it’s making the carburetor way too rich and when they’re open it leans it out. Every time I see someone with one of these set ups at the cars and coffee or the like I ask them how they have their carb jetted for the scoop in the reply is “I don’t know, it just looks cool”.
Five minutes on Google yields no useful information. Plenty of info about re-jetting for changing the air cleaner or changes in altitude but nothing for these.
Be fun if it was actually quick.
