A What Now? 1997 Jeep Fuqi

This next car is advertised by the seller as a “Jeep” Fuqi, but it is no more a Jeep than I am a Jeep. It is a styling hybrid of a Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser and Land Rover Defender 110 built by a Chinese company in the automotive equivalent of a fake Rolex watch. It should be easy to maintain with a Leatherman multi-tool and a box of zip ties. Find this 1997 Jeep Fuqi offered for $4800 in San Diego, CA via craigslist.

From the seller:

Love the spare tire, errr wheel. Would like to know the story of how this vehicle got to San Diego. Probably super easy to get part for and work on it. The lack of any pictures or information about what is under the hood doesn’t worry me at all. LOL
wrong culture, but this says all i’ve got about this listing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6onONuUjM4
Would be interesting to see if it crumples on the first hill you try to climb.
This is a BAW BJ212 which might have been loosely based on the Russian UAZ-469. https://www.motor1.com/news/556070/baw-bj212-china-video/
Wouldn’t a 1997 qualify for the 25 year rule?
Just barely, but I’m not sure if they count the build date to the month or whatever.
From researching JDM vehicles I believe they do count the month as part of the ’25 year rule’. Keep in mind only on first cup of coffee, so may have that wrong? 🙂
