A Ford By Any Other Name: 1976 Mercury Capri

They (you know…them…them folks) always said that the best Fords have always been German built Mercurys, and today’s next feature is a testament to that ridiculous saying. But what is even MORE ridiculous is that somebody hasn’t snatched up this classic for the low asking price. Find this 1976 Mercury Capri offered for $6,500 in Cranford, NJ via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

From the seller:

1976 Mercury-Ford Capri

The car has A Holley 4-barrel carb, headers, and MSD ignition.

A lot of suspension work was done, including springs, shocks, sway bars, adjustable camber plates, and 14″ Epsilon wheels.

The interior features Recaro seats imported from Germany, custom door panels, and carpeted rear and hatch areas.

The rear seat has been replaced with a custom upholstered enclosure that holds the battery, audio amp, and speakers.

It was painted a silver/gray metallic lacquer about 20 or so years ago, and the paint is now cracking in several areas, although the car still looks good from 20 feet. Some light corrosion is now visible on the lower front fenders, but overall the car’s structure is solid.
