6-Speed Sportwagen: 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

The 5th generation of Volkswagen’s Jetta platform is known by Dub-fans as the Mark V and was only sold for the 2006 through 2010 model years. It used more CAN connectors throughout the chassis in an attempt to reduce the number of wires running throughout the chassis and fight some of the reputation VW had gotten for electrical gremlins in its Golf/Jetta platform over the last generation or two. Today’s example is powered by the infamous TDI (turbocharged direct injection) engine that provides fantastic fuel economy and was the subject of derision and scorn during the notorious Dieselgate 2015-era emissions cheating scandal. I know there was a buy-back, a rebate, and a re-flash the ECU that happened to these cars, but the price on this one seems fair all things considered. Find this 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI offered for $6,700 in Dallas, TX via craigslist.

I currently daily a 2013 gas automatic version. I love the wagon. Diesel and manual would have been my preference but I found a great deal.
I’d be concerned about how this one appears to have been lowered. The springs on these are notorious for breaking. I ended up doing a mild lift on mine using Touareg springs.
Considering the crown royal shift boot and cheap peeling tint, probably cut springs.
Yeah, it definitely loses a few points for the bad tint job. It gains a couple back for the color-matched wheels, but it simultaneously loses double those points because the color-match fails to match. Don’t do it if you can’t do it right.
