6-Speed Rear-Engine: 2003 Porsche 911 C2
As a non-Porsche owner, it has been painful to watch the rise in prices of vintage aircooled P-cars…but I’ve been watching the prices of the 996/997 and they offer a shocking amount of performance and comfort (sorry 993 owners…but they are faster and more comfy…maybe not as cool…) for the cash. To be honest, I’m thinking I need to trade the BMW I’ve been driving for one of these German rear-engine equipped machines…I’d better do it before they become unobtanium. Find this 2003 Porsche 911 C2 offered for $18000 in Long Beach, CA via craigslist.

2003 996 911 C2 for sale. This is a clean car – I’ll let the pictures do the talking. It has some minor blemishes to be expected of a car this age. Purchased this a while back (I’m the fourth owner, car has always been in CA), but honestly not driving it as much as I’d like – I’d like to see it go to someone that could use it more. I have records of recent work done (rear brake pads/rotors, worn suspension components/bushings replaced, air filter, oil change etc…). Everything works and this car does not need anything. Completely stock except I’ve installed a 997 shifter. The leather on the shift knob is worn, but I have a brand new ICT aftermarket shift knob (very nice) that I’ll throw in with the car if interested. This car has the original IMS bearing.

Better check the coolant for oil before you commit.
I want a 911 bad and hopefully will be able to get into one in the next couple of years.
I'd also like to remind the rest of you they are terrible cars and those fried egg headlights are ugly and you should not buy one and drive prices up.
That's some higher level thinking.
Yes, concur, they are total piles of stinking IMS failing piles of garbage. Buy an M3 instead.
Don't buy those old M3's either total junk. 😉
986 Boxster/Cayman S's not only drive better, but offer a LOT more car for the money.
Maybe. But the Cayman are getting pricy, while the selection of 996 at absurd prices never seems to dwindle. I’ve had two where I replaced the IMSB, and two where I didn’t. Drove the snot out of all of them and I’m always looking to get another one to play with. Thinking 996 targa next…
