6 Cylinder: 1962 Ford Falcon Futura

The car shows of the world are overrun with blower equipped hot rods, spitting fire out their tailpipes while being gently driven by elderly owners who have no interest doing burnouts and terrorizing the neighborhood.  So why not skip the fuel bills, and angry looks from neighbors when you wake them up at 6am Saturday morning, and buy a simple inline-6 powered classic.  Like this 1962 Ford Falcon Futura found here on eBay bidding for $4,050 located in Orland, CA (this land is my land, this land is Orland…) with a few hours to go.

The Falcon was Ford’s small car offering from 1960-1070 and was available as a 2-door, 4-door, and wagon.  It continues to be one of the better deals on a classic sedan, and running/maintenance costs are very reasonable.

You aren’t going to make much power with an air cleaner assembly that is smaller than the valve cover breathers on the 500 cubic inch customized big block on the typical customized muscle car, but fuel economy and off-idle driveability will be great.  This one has an inline-6 borrowed from an 80s Thunderbird mated to a C4 automatic and rear end out of a Mustang II, so assume something in the 100 horsepower range and by surprised if you ever dyno it.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!  The grey goo of self replicating nano-technology has taken over the dash on this Falcon and it is spreading…we only have hours left before…wait…it’s only a dash cover, please put down the flamethrowers.
