5k: SEMA Show Car: 2004 Saturn Ion Redline Rally Car

The Saturn Ion Redline is the sister car to the factory hot rod Chevrolet Cobalt SS and was first launched in 2004.  The Saturn brand was unceremoniously sacked as result of the 2008 global automobile market crash and the only two casualties that anyone should care about from the different kind of car company was the Sky Redline and the Ion Redline. Find this 2004 Saturn Ion Redline SEMA Show & Rally Car for sale in Lakeland, FL currently bidding for $3,800 no-reserve with 1 day to go.

Today’s Ion Redline started life as a standard production vehicle but was then heavily modified by someone as a demonstrator car for rally events and 2005 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show.  The same car (with different pictures oddly enough) is allegedly headed to a consignment auction in Oklahoma City in February.

From the factory the Ion Redline was equipped with a 2.0 liter Ecotec LSJ inline-4 boosted with an Eaton supercharged for a total of 205 horsepower and 200 ft-lbs of torque.  This one has been modified with larger supercharger pulley, bigger injectors and all sorts of anodized pink & blue parts, but the seller claims it still maintains emissions components and possibly compliance.  Power is undisclosed, but anything north of 300 horsepower will be difficult to use on the street or in a dirt rally environment.

The inside of this Ion is completely customized, but the rear doors to allow access to the rear seats are 100% stock.  The Cobalt version had standard coupe doors, but the Ion has an extra set of suicide style doors to allow access to rear seat passengers, or in this case a bunch of racing junk.
