5k: School Bus Yellow: 1965 Ford Falcon Futura Wagon

Clean Ford Falcon wagons show up on our radar from time-to-time, but this was one was unique because it is resplendent in a stunning shade of school bus yellow.  Find this 1965 Ford Falcon Futura Wagon for sale in Apple Valley, CA for $5,500 via craigslist.  The second generation Falcon was only built in 1964-65 and is arguably the coolest of all Falcons.  Fortunately for us it was overshadowed by the ever-popular Mustang, back in the day and in modern times, making it today both cheaper and more uncommon than the sporty 2+2 it shares most components with.  Thanks to tip from Scooter.

The Mustang was never made in a wagon version, so the Falcon clearly one-ups the Mustang in both usability and school-bus color scheme capabilities.   A Lego yellow Mustang would just look silly…but this Falcon wagon looks awesome!

The Falcon was available with a 289 cubic inch (4.7 liter) version of Ford’s Windsor V8 good for 200 horsepower when new – but freeing up ponies is as easy as A, B, C (Air, Backpressure, Cams).

The six mile long headliner inside this Falcon is new according to the owner and being as this is a Falcon and not a Sport Fury, just about every interior piece is available from aftermarket suppliers all over the internet.

For $5,500 this Falcon offers a surprising amount of cool, usability and vintage metal – we give it two thumbs up!
