5k: Greater Cleveland Special Edition: 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Coupe GCSX
Out of all the strange special editions that automobile manufacturers have released, I can find nothing more perplexing than the Greater Cleveland Special Edition of the fourth generation Cutlass from Oldsmobile. What Cleveland has to do with Oldsmobile is totally lost on me, but apparently Oldsmobile had a regional option package Y76 that added specific badging for each region and included gems like GMO (Galliant Men of Olds — Chicago), LION (Long Island Olds Network), and the previously highlighted GCSX. Find this 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Coupe GCSX
currently bidding for $1,810 reserve-not-met with $7,500 buy-it-now with 5 days to go, located in Madison, GA.
The list of reasons for name this edition of the Cutlass after Cleveland evades me, but the option seems to be a dealer related feature that was just badges for each region. This didn’t do much to make a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass a better car…but if you live in Cleveland and are looking for a malaise-era boat for sailing around, this seems like a no brainer.
A close up of the badge loudly proclaiming to the world your love of The Forest City, The Cleve, Rock and Roll Capital of the World, C-Town, the Sixth City or the North Coast. This one has a 260 cubic inch V8 mounted up front and 33k miles on the odometer.

Personally, I am holding out for the Boston Oldsmobile Owners Bureau edition. The badge is naturally situated on the D pillar. Comes with Stiff suspension to prevent sag and a dealer installed bra for added style.
Sloth-FUL!
