5k: Garage Kept: 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 4.5 W108
The Mercedes-Benz W108 chassis has a special place here at Daily Turismo; some might say we have a soft spot for this car, or just generally a soft spot in our heads. We featured a full market update on the MB 280SE 4.5 back in February of this year, so if you were paying attention you might say this next car is a good deal. Find this 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 4.5 for sale in Daleville, AL for $3750 via craiglist. Big thanks to tipper Joshua T – someone is going to owe that guy a few cases of beer…
This would be the deal of the decade if that trip pointed star emblem wasn’t crooked…oh..wait..those MBZ hood ornaments live on a spring loaded ball-socket…so…this IS the deal of the decade. If this runs and drives and you live nearby, pull the money you are hiding from the wife out of the secret spot in your toolbox and get down there to buy it…NOW. If it runs and the floorboards aren’t rusted to crap, it’s worth twice this in an ebay auction…easy.
The 4.5 liter lump under the hood puts out 160 hp and 180 ft-lbs of torque and can cost a few bones to fix when something goes wrong. If it runs well and has good compression this car is worth 3X the asking price.
The last thoughts are…is this a scam? If it is real and you buy it – send us a note, we’d love to hear about it.

Nice find. This is so cheap you can't even use the "if it was closer" excuse.
I agree with Scooter about the closer excuse…. My only excuse is the money. I don't need a vehicle, but if the money was there, this car would be here….
dang, that is really the middle of nowhere – i know people all over the south and it's still 3 hours from the closest one
I think a quote from Walter Copland Perry applies here, it was from a book about mythological Sirens: "Their song, though irresistibly sweet, was no less sad than sweet, and lapped both body and soul in a fatal lethargy, the forerunner of death and corruption."
There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart's desire. The other is to gain it. ~ George Bernard Shaw
